Test the connection end-to-end

Confirm everything is wired up correctly:

On your project board, change the Status of your connected top-level item to Working On It

Go to the Portfolio board and find your project's row

Confirm the Mirror column now shows Working On It

Change the status again to test that updates keep flowing through

If the Mirror column stays blank

Check three things: (1) the Portfolio Link column is actually connected to the right row, (2) the Mirror column is pointed at that same Connect Boards column, (3) your Status labels match what the Portfolio board expects. Mismatched labels are the most common cause.

Checkpoint — you're done when:

Your project board exists in the right workspace with Status, Owner, and Timeline columns. It's connected to a row on the Portfolio board via a Connect Boards column. Changing your project's Status updates the Portfolio board's Mirror column within a few seconds.
